Abstract
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, being an immunological disease and abundant in signs and symptoms, can be associated with Cutaneous Lupus Erythematosus, resulting in severe alopecia if it affects the scalp. Conduct a literature review regarding the criteria, clinical and trichoscopic findings for the diagnosis of Discoid Lupus Erythematosus and verify the agreement with a current case report. Literature review through PubMed, in the last 10 years - 2013 to 2023 - using the keywords "Lupus Scalp and Diagnosis", associated with renowned textbooks and description of a recent case report. The diagnostic literature review was consistent with the clinical and trichoscopic findings of the reported patient. This study demonstrates and brings complete confidence in making the diagnosis of Discoid Lupus Erythematosus through physical examination, clinical and trichoscopic signs, all supported by the available world literature, even not having available scalp biopsy.
