Abstract

The Microinfusion of Medicaments in the Skin (MMP®) is a technique of microinfusion of drugs directly into the skin using a tattoo machine. It has been used since 2013 in the treatment of several diseases, including androgenetic alopecia. However, there are still few publications about the method. Objectives: To analyze the use of MMP® in the treatment of androgenetic alopecia and its results in medical practice. Methods: This is a literature review which 13 publications selected, between the years 2011 and 2023, extracted from the following databases: PubMed, Google Scholar and Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature (LILACS ). Results: The use of the MMP® technique for treating androgenetic alopecia has proven effective and safe, with significant clinical results and no relevant adverse effects. Conclusions: The few existing publications on the subject use different methodologies and small samples. Therefore, further studies and controlled and randomized clinical trials are needed to attest to the efficacy and safety of the MMP® technique as a therapeutic option for androgenetic alopecia.
