Abstract
Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC) consists a tumor of cells morphologically similar to the basal cells of the epidermis, your growth is slow and its invasive capacity is localized. The most caracteristic BCC lesion is a pearly, papular, translucent and shiny lesion. We report a case of ulcerated nodular BCC in the left malar region and how important is the proper technique for treating lesions in this region, as well presenting a therapeutic option with good aesthetics and functional results. A 55 years old female patient presented a tumor in the left malar region with erythematous, pearly edges, a necrotic center, measuring approximately 3,5 cm in diameter with evolution of 90 days and rapid growth in the previous 20 days. With clinical signs suggestive of BCC, surgical excision was performed and histopathological confirmation of the lesion with tumor-free margins. Due the extremely visible region and possible aesthetic complications, it was decided to use subcutaneous pedicle VX advancement flap, with excelente aesthetic and functional results. The correct choice of surgical technique and individualization of the patients pysical characteristics was essential for the therapeutic and functional success of the approach to the presented tumor, as well the rapid diagnostic and therapeutic conduct with preservation patients quality life.
