Abstract
Classified as a chronic disease that affects several age groups, but is prevalent in children, atopic dermatitis is very present in the clinical practice of family and community physicians, and is characterized especially by intense itching and eczematous lesions, with a characteristic distribution according to the age group. age. Objectives: To identify and describe the importance of an effective diagnosis and correct management in the treatment of AD in children, as well as the effectiveness of the use of emollients as a therapeutic dynamic. Methods: This is a descriptive and exploratory literature review published in journals such as Scielo, Lilacs, BVS, Pubmed and Google Scholars. Published from 2017 to 2022. Results: After applying a filter, publications correlated to AD in children and the effectiveness of using emollients in these patients, a result of 30 articles was obtained, which were separated for reading and construction of the proposed study. Conclusion: AD with its various stages must be treated in different ways, with medications and therapeutic measures that adapt to each type of patient. The use of emollients constitutes the pillars of therapy and has been considered promising as a way of preventing AD, especially in children.
