Abstract
The eyes constitute important anatomical structures in the aesthetic set of the face. Blepharoplasty has been performed with great frequency due to the appreciation of cosmetic surgery. Complications related to this procedure are rare. The aim of this study is to evaluate the results and complications that can occur in patients undergoing blepharoplasty. Twenty scientific articles related to blepharoplasty surgery were reviewed. The incidence of complications on average was 10%, the main ones described were: bruising and. Improved self-esteem was observed in patients submitted to blepharoplasty in the groups studied. It has been demonstrated that blepharoplasty is a surgery with high satisfaction rate and low number of complications, being an excellent surgical procedure, when correctly indicated.
