Abstract
The Covid-19 pandemic caused severe social impacts and was responsible for the death of millions of deaths worldwide. Understanding the mechanisms of action and consequences of the virus can serve to design safer and more effective treatment approaches. The present study aims to analyze the possible relationship between acute or chronic hair loss and Covid-19. The terms "covid-19" and "hair" separated by "AND" were used in the search, resulting in 150 results. After analyzing the titles, studies that did not fit the theme were excluded, leaving 8 articles to compose the object of analysis of this study. The findings indicate that there is a relationship between hair loss and Covid-19 since this clinical condition was identified in patients infected with the virus. In addition, hair loss was considered a possible late symptom. However, little is known about the mechanisms that trigger hair loss. It is concluded that more studies on the subject are necessary because although the relationship between hair loss and Covid-19 has been established, it is necessary to establish the pathophysiological mechanisms that relate to the diseases.
