Abstract

It briefly presents the main theme of the work and its research object. This article proposes to report a case of allergic contact dermatitis to exposure to sodium hydroxide. Review of medical records, interview with the patient in an outpatient setting, photographic record and review in digital health libraries. A 63-year-old male patient with erythrodermic plaques, lichenified and diffuse pruritic for two months after contact with caustic soda. Pathology: superficial perivascular dermatitis with epidermal hyperplasia and focal spongiosis. Based on the findings, a diagnosis of photoallergic dermatitis was made. Thus, it is extremely important to pay attention to this diagnosis when dealing with a difficult-to-diagnose erythrodermic patient.
