Abstract

The westernized diet has a negative influence and offers the emergence of acne. A westernized diet is characterized by having in its composition higher values of saturated lipids, carbohydrates, in addition to a higher consumption of milk, chocolate and sweets. compared to a standard diet. The objectives of this work are: Describe how the Western diet influences the appearance of acne and also specify which changes in eating habits are necessary for the clinical improvement of acne. This is a literature review. A search was carried out for articles with inclusion criteria for studies published 06 years ago, that is, with a time frame from 2016 to 2021, in addition to Portuguese, Spanish and English. As a result of this work, we have a predominance of scientific findings from the year 2018, corresponding to about 35% of the studies found, in addition we have 10% of articles in English and 10% of articles in Spanish. However, Dermatology professionals must be aware of the importance of diet in their patients' lives, so that they can encompass all available treatment nuances and so that acne does not return due to an established diet.
