Abstract
The new coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, gave rise to a pandemic of a disease whose main symptoms are respiratory, but with wide repercussions in several other systems of the human body. Increasing cases of acute telogen effluvium and alopecia areata have been observed in dermatology clinics worldwide, with hair loss being one of the main signs observed after Covid-19.
The objective of this work is to gather several cases of post-Covid-19 hair loss registered worldwide, including cases of acute telogen effluvium and alopecia areata, to familiarize and prepare the medical profession about such dermatological consequences of the disease.
The preparation of this article was based on a systematic review of the literature on hair loss after COVID-19, which used articles and journals published around the world as a research source, between 2019 and 2021, in the PubMed and Google Scholar.
