Abstract

The earlobe has a relevant cultural importance due to the use of ornaments and jewelry in this location. Ear perforation can result in early and late complications All of this has motivated a greater demand from patients for esthetic treatments of the earlobe. This study provides a review and update on ear lobe repair. For the preparation of this review article, scientific articles published and referenced in the main virtual libraries were consulted. Several surgical and non-surgical techniques have been described over the years. The choice of surgical technique depends on the classification of the wound, be it acute or chronic, partial or complete laceration, preservation or not of a previous orifice. The diversity of ear lobe reconstruction techniques and approaches is due to the good local vascularization, which allows greater freedom in manipulating the local tissues.
