Abstract
Introduction: The localized adiposity or localized lipodystrophy consists of the accumulation of adipose tissue in certain places. There are several treatments to remove these unwanted fats, which can be invasive and non-invasive. Objectives: Illustrate the treatments used for the elimination of abdominal fat. Methods: This work consists of a bibliographic reference. The research was done in October, 2020. The inclusion criteria were articles from the year 2010 to 2020, in Portuguese Language. As method of exclusion, were used articles in other languages and articles that did not meet the final objective. Results: Regarding the date of publication, it was found that most number of articles date from the year 2012. It is possible to observe the interest of Brazilian researchers on it, since 100% of the articles in this review are in Portuguese. Conclusions: The possibilities for the elimination of localized fat are numerous. The invasive aesthetic procedures have already been much sought. However, due to the risks of these procedures and the high cost, non-invasive methods have been increasing. This situation encourages the dermatologists to update their knowledge in the area.
