Basocellular carcinoma: histopathologic results study at the BWS Institute in 2014 and literature review

Abstract

Basal cell carcinoma is the most frequent cutaneous neoplasm, consisting of different histological types, being more discreetly common in females. To describe basal cell carcinoma in its hitopathological and epidemiological variables. Retrospective analysis of 277 cases of BCC underwent biopsy at the BWS Institute from February to December 2014. The histopathology and epidemiology were compared with the current literature. We identified 227 lesions with basal cell carcinoma, representing 78.9% of the 351 cases of non-melanoma cancer, the majority of which were female (55.5%). The most common histological type found was nodular (72,2%). She observed the predominance of basal cell carcinoma, being the most common skin cancer, affecting the female sex, being the current trend. There are several histological, being the most common the nodular.
