Abstract
Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a recurrent chronic inflammatory disease, characterized by intense itching and eczema Immunobiologicals and small molecules are targeted therapies that have been developed for many inflammatory, autoimmune and oncological diseases/ Describe the importance and indications of immunobiological therapy in children with atopic dermatitis/ For this study, a qualitative literature review was carried out, with a descriptive approach. For data collection, the SciELO, PubMed and Google academic databases were used. 14 final articles were selected, where dupilumab was found to block IL-4 / IL13 signaling and thus inhibit signaling of receptors downstream of the JAK-STAT pathway. Three of the main mechanisms of AD are affected by blocking this pathway. Thus, good results have been reported with its use.It was possible to verify that despite being a new treatment, therapy with immunobiologicals has become a relevant indication for patients with moderate or severe AD, where traditional treatment has not had the expected effect or is not indicated.
