Abstract
Introduction: Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) affects 70% of men and women. It is known that its appearance is related to age and sex. It is the most common cause of follicular miniaturization that leads to a pattern of non-healing capillary rarefaction, affecting genetically predisposed individuals, causing a great impact on quality of life. Objective: Evaluate the best therapeutic strategy for androgenetic alopecia, comparing the time and effectiveness of treatments and procedures in the perception of the volunteer and evaluator. Material and Method: For the preparation of this literature review we used 28 scientific articles from the last 8 years and 1 of 1992. Results: The research indicated as active ingredients for combating hair loss: minoxidil, spironolactone, finasteride, B vitamins, organic silicon and colagen. Among these, finasteride 1mg/day incresead hair growth in 65% of finasteride 2.5mg/day shows an improvement of 62% in pre-menopausal women. From the procedures employed, the microneedling and the application of platelet-rich plasma, minoxidil and finasteride togheter with the use of supplements obtained positive responses for the treatment of alopecia. Conclusion: Androgenetic alopecia is a reality among men and women of different ages, which can affect their self-esteem. Therefore, it is essential that the doctor is able to diagnose AGA early, always aiming at the treatment that best suits each patient.
